We set out to strengthen the region’s dining scene and added two places to Rotkreuz – a café and a bar. But the most important part is not the rooms: it is our people, the everyday heroes who conjure up a wonderful stay for you.
Meet the team
They are the reason guests come back.
Tatiana
You will find Tatiana at our counter or behind the coffee machine, preparing every coffee with special love. She leaves nothing untried to give our guests a lovely stay, and she is always up for a laugh. By the way, she is also the one behind our charming seasonal decorations – wonderful, is it not?
Jerome
When Jerome is not tinkering with a new creation, he keeps the kitchen on its toes and cooks a smile onto our guests’ faces. He is a chef through and through – and a great talker, too. Next time you visit, ask him about our dishes or what he would recommend today. And as a true-born Rotkreuzer, he is practically a regional treasure – surely a listed one.
Lisa
Lisa is far more than “just” a barista – she is a true all-rounder, and everyday life at Café Malea and Bar Limón would be hard to imagine without her. On weekends she stands behind the coffee machine with full passion, supports the service with calm and overview, and lends a hand wherever help is needed. Her energy is legendary: highly motivated, always positive – she would happily add a double shift if we did not lovingly slow her down now and then. During the week she shines in the bar with a confident presence and a sure feel for guests and atmosphere.
Alex Burth
Meet Alex, our dog dad and hospitality enthusiast. When he is not trying to keep up with his overactive Mini Australian Shepherd, you will find him in various roles: project manager, co-owner of a food stand and passionate firefighter – yes, you read that right. With a talent for new food concepts and more than 12,000 photos uploaded to Google Maps, he is definitely one to follow. And his love of the latest technology? You can be sure he already knows, owns or has at least tested the newest app or gadget. When he is not writing a review, you will find him at the café or the bar.
Joël Humbel
Meet Joël – our nature and sports enthusiast, podcast addict, strategy developer, wildlife photography lover and creative mind. When he is not spinning new ideas, you will find him out in nature or in the water. He loves good company – unless he is deep in one of his podcasts. His wildlife photos are almost as good as his concepts, and when it comes to teamwork he is always ready to pitch in and find new ways. Who needs a map with an adventurer like him on the team? And sometimes he even finds his way to the café.
Corinne
Corinne is not just athletic in her free time – she also supports our team at Café Malea with a lot of heart and a smile. The special thing: Corinne does not actually need to work with us. She has a full-time office job and helps us out purely voluntarily – a nice change of pace from her everyday work. About once or twice a month you will find her with us on a weekend at Malea. We look forward to many more shifts together and thank her for everything she does.
Sonja
With a lot of passion and an eye for detail, Sonja supports our kitchen team on weekends. Alongside her musical commitment in a band, she takes the time to actively support us at Café Malea. With her calm, reliable nature and a real love for plating, she makes sure our dishes not only taste excellent but look great too.
Andrina
With her radiant smile and infectious energy, Andrina makes sure our guests feel welcome from the very first moment. With plenty of heart, attention and joy she looks after our guests and creates a warm atmosphere at Café Malea. Whether serving, advising or just having a friendly chat – Andrina gives it her all.
Cansu
Cansu is the newest addition to our team and has settled in brilliantly in no time. With her motivated and open nature she supports our team both in service and at the barista station. She is always engaged, learns quickly and keeps a cool head even in hectic moments.
And alongside them: the whole service, kitchen and bar crew who keep both houses running every weekend.

Malea is a Hawaiian name and stands for calm and cosiness. Limón brings South American flair, good vibes and fun. Together they make our Aloha.
